While waiting to see the first episode of "The Mandalorian" let's introduce this special race of characters which seems to be quite mysterious in the Star Wars Universe.
Of course, if you are looking for full and precise information, there is no batter place than Wookieepedia (which obviously was also the source for us).
Some people consider Mandalorians as a separate race of people, others consider them as just humans who organized themselves on the planet Mandalore. Whoever they are actually, one thing is certain - they are warriors. Most of us know Mandalorians because of two main characters that appear in Star Wars movies: Jango Fett and Boba Fett (although, it is said, that Jango is not Mandalorian:). Did You know, that Boba Fett was a clone of Jango, who was supposed to raise him as his own son? But we will take care of this story later on in some different post.
Mandalore (from where Mandalorians come from) is the planet located in the Outer Rim in the sector and system of the same name. The planet ha a moon called Concordia, which became a mining settlement to which Mandalorian warriors were exiled.
Mandalorians were famous as warriors wand gained a reputation as mercenaries and bounty hunters. Well... in the end, money is what counts. At least for them. During their expansion threw galaxies, they started to fall into conflict with the Old Republic and as a result with Jedi. Obviously, in the beginning, they didn't have much chances with Jedi powers, but eventually, this made them develop technology, which resulted in the whole set of arsenal and armor. 
As always, this is not simply "good/bad" guys. One of the Mandalorians became a Jedi - Tarre Vizsla. What's more, he invented his own "lightsaber" which was dark... so a darksaber. Some part of their reputation comes from their very strict honor code. Most of their disputes were dealt with by one-on-one combat - till one of them is dead. How simple is that :)
They created a society based on the pyramid structure. The main ruler called Mand'alor. Mand`alor was at the top of the top between the Protectors. Political factions known as Houses were made up of family clans. One of them was House Vizsla, which was comprised of Clan Vizsla and Clan Wren.
Mandalorians debuted in Star Wars #68 "The Search Begins", a comic book published by Marvel in 1983, which describes Boba and Fenn Shysa among the supercommandos, the official protectors of the planet Mandalore.
